Certitude Networks owns more than 300 assets across 89 families originating from over two decades of Ericsson R&D in the telecommunications and infrastructure services industry.

Certitude Networks’ portfolio originated with Ericsson, one of the world's foremost network-systems innovators, and emerged from a sustained, intentional research program spanning roughly two decades. This portfolio is a coherent, decades-long effort to re-architect the network from fixed-function hardware into programmable, virtualized, cloud-native infrastructure engineered to meet the reliability, scale, and security demands of a global carrier. Notably, much of the core software-defined networking and service-chaining research carries priority dates at or ahead of the technology's broad commercial adoption, the signature of foundational, ahead-of-market R&D.
The portfolio comprises more than 300 assets across 89 families with worldwide coverage. The key U.S. patents are complemented by grants across Europe, China, Japan, India, Korea, Canada, Brazil, and Australia, among other jurisdictions, providing a broad multi-jurisdictional footprint in the world's largest IT-infrastructure markets. Priority dates range from 2005 to 2020, concentrated in the 2010–2015 window of the industry's transition to software-defined, virtualized, and cloud-native infrastructure with expirations running through 2041, giving the portfolio a long enforceable runway. The portfolio is held and made available for licensing through Certitude Networks LLC.
The portfolio is concentrated in the control, orchestration, virtualization, and security of modern packet networks and cloud data centers, clustering into eight coherent technology themes: software-defined networking (SDN) and OpenFlow control; service chaining and service-function steering; network function virtualization (NFV) and VNF lifecycle management; cloud and datacenter resource orchestration, including storage provisioning and cross-datacenter replication; container virtualization and container security; network performance monitoring, telemetry, and analytics; traffic engineering, routing, load balancing, and quality of service, including network-slicing QoS; and network and communications security, spanning DDoS defense, distributed-attack detection, key management, anti-spoofing, IPsec, and secure isolation. Together these describe how traffic is steered, how network and compute resources are virtualized and placed, how services are monitored, and how the whole system is secured, the core building blocks of today's software-defined and cloud-native infrastructure, relevant to hyperscalers and cloud providers, networking and infrastructure companies, network security providers, and cloud-native software platforms.
